Battle Report #10 - Polish Finish and New Class as we head into Draft #3.....

Hi All,

Just touching base with you to give you an update of how the polish is progressing. I have finished a QA polish pass on Draft #2 and closed that Draft off. I am now focusing on an in depth Character Class section to add in to the existing Players Section Chapter. This will include the dynamic and exciting Disciple class. Mixing Martial Arts with Shadowforce Manipulations for devastating results! I look forward to a reveal of this for you all.

I have also got my artist, Andy Owlington working on a concept for this class, so when that is done, be sure to check here for a preview sneak peek.

I thought it might be interesting to impart some of my pre-existing Game Mastering experience to you all as well. When I Game Master (or DM), I tend to steer away from getting bogged down in combat dice rolling. To that end, I found a simple but effective solutions is to do a sort of "Mind Map" of some potential outcomes, and then, for you to add flavor to your game, script out some descriptive situations to present to your players.

With some outcomes in the back of your mind, you are able to then free up some of the dice rolling and let the story take over, allowing your players to tell you what their characters are doing in exciting new ways and for your to be able to give them epic results that doesn't seem like you are just fudging the rolls and that thier characters are invincible and can never die. Oh, and just on that, I have have to deal with MIN.MAX players who take it as a personal insult if their character perishes.

It is to these players I generally turn my unscrupulous eye and make sure their character realizes they are NOT invincible or immune to death in the game. Sometimes it may take a few characters for this type of player, but eventually they wont grow as attached and worry more about having fun than how high their attribute scores are.

Hope this helps some of you refocus your game mastering and see if by adopting this approach makes for a better session.

Stay safe and Keep Imagining!
