Home sick, what better way to pass the time then to finish off the players section! Yep! Thats right, the Players section of the Core Rulebook has now been completed! Putting the finishing chapters on Chapter 13 and other tweaks throughout, I can now officially close off the first draft of the player section. That doesn't mean my work is finished yet, as I now have to add to the tidbits of the Galaxy Masters Section , which I have some material for. I am roughly about half way to the finish now (around 50,000 words so far). I would also be working on the QuickStart Guide.
One thing I have been bantering around in my head and want to put it out there for some feedback is the use of a boxed beginner set - something that I would look at through the Kickstarter, what do you all think about them? Examples include Shadowrun, Battletech and the new FFG Star Wars RPG. Essentially it would contain 2 scaled down books (the Players Guide and Galaxy Master Handbook) as well as play mats, counters, dice, ect. Depending on how the kickstarter went would determine if it were financially viable to include Miniatures (very expensive) or Cardboard stock cut outs (not so expensive), and of course having Miniatures included would jack the price of the box set up. Of course, it would be a bonus to Kickstarter backers depending on pledge level.
So, I'm putting it out there, would you prefer (in addition to) a full blown Core Rulebook (thick, hardcover) a beginner box set? (I for one, love boxed sets and my nostalgia AD&D is tickled here).
Let me know, now back to writing and recuperating.....
