Sometimes when you have a writing project, whether it be a novel or orther form of prose, inevitably, we will all hit a proverbial "wall", where it becomes a struggle with motication and creaitivity to keep writing. Seeing something through to completion can be the hardest thing a writer can deal with, I have spoken before about finding different forms of motivation. In this Blog, I will touch on a technique that I have employed (as well as some other suggestions) to keep you writing past the enevitable "wall" which could also be described as "writers block". Generally though, "writers block" is your willing to write, but have no idea what to type. This is mostly about keeping that "Willingness'.
One technique i have found helps, is a visual aid to your progress with your writing project. Having a list of the chapters for your novel, or titles for each chapter, once you finish that chapter, you mark it "complete", This allows you to break your work down into more manageable chunks and makes it seem less daunting.
Other suggestions include, taking frequent breaks, (having children and family helps with this, as you spend time with them, it refreshes your desire, and that keeps the writing flowing").
Keep the motivational music playing no matter what, even if your driving to work, have it playing and do some "day dreaming" about situations for your novel, or what you hope to accomnplish when you next sit down to write.
Hopefully this advice finds a home and even if you take one thing from it that might get you over the finish line, it will have been worrth it. Please feel free to drop me a line if you ever need help with anything, be it ideas or further motivation!
Thats all for now....signing off....
Mark.
